What makes PersonalFit™ PLUS pump sets different

Part of the innovative PersonalFit™ PLUS range, the reusable hospital pump set for Symphony® has a groundbreaking design, based on Medela’s unique research and breast milk expertise.4

The fully rotatable breast shield with oval shape and 105° opening angle mirrors the contours of the lactating breast for gentle pumping.4 It comes in a range of tunnel sizes to help ensure optimal nipple fit.

Furthermore, the PersonalFit™ PLUS pump set’s simpler design means there are fewer breast pump parts to deal with, making them quick and easy to assemble, clean and sterilise between uses or users.1

All PersonalFit™ PLUS pump sets have an integrated overflow protection (also referred to as a closed system) feature. A membrane within the connector helps stop the hygiene risk of milk overflowing into the breast pump mechanism during use. As a result, mothers can sit in a more relaxed position while expressing, without worrying about milk leaking from the pump set.

Medela PersonalFit™ PLUS pump set benefits

PersonalFit™ PLUS pump sets have been clinically tested and proven to offer the following benefits.

More milk: After 15 minutes, the PersonalFit™ PLUS pump set obtained 11% more milk than the standard breast pump set design.2 Breast drainage was also improved by 4%2 – this is significant because draining the breast well is a key principle of maintaining a mother’s milk production.5

More comfort: When compared to a standard breast pump set, mothers described expressing with PersonalFit™ PLUS as feeling more gentle and natural. And 100% of the mothers who tested the PersonalFit™ PLUS breast shield positively rated its fit, with minimal or no skin pressure marks.3

More efficiency: Mothers were observed while they used the new breast pump set in hospital for five days. The healthcare professionals monitoring them recorded significant improvements in the cleaning, overall usability and handling of PersonalFit™ PLUS.5

The PersonalFit™ PLUS reusable hospital pump set for Symphony® in practice
Reusable breast pump sets must be sanitised before being assembled and used for the first time, and once a day thereafter. Because they are multi-user products, PersonalFit™ PLUS reusable hospital pump sets should be reprocessed between each user, too – sterilising breast pump parts can be done in an autoclave. Like all reusable pump sets, they also need to be cleaned after each use.

All of this is made easier thanks to the benefits of PersonalFit™ PLUS described above. Please note that recommended practice is covered in the instructions for use, although procedures may differ depending on hospital guidelines and local regulations.

Creating the complete system for optimising expression

PersonalFit™ PLUS is part of the Medela Symphony® kit. The Symphony® is a trusted choice in hospitals worldwide, thanks to its proven quality and reliability. Its unique technology supports mothers to initiate, build and maintain adequate milk production over time.6–8 PersonalFit™ PLUS further enhances this performance, helping mothers express more milk in the same time2 and delivering next-generation ease of use and simple cleaning.1
