The Axiom® Atraum® Catheters coated with ClotSop® are made of silicone, which ensures easy and safe placement in the thorax. The specially formulated and pleasantly soft material enables the patient to move freely, promoting patient comfort. Using ClotStop® encourages enhanced patient's safety and recovery.

The innovative Axiom® Atraum® Catheters coated with ClotSop® help to minimize the risk of formed clots adhering to the walls of the catheter and thus prevents occlusion of the catheter. These catheters are coated with an innovative hydrogel polymer. This is not an anticoagulant and is medically safe as it does not affect natural blood clotting. In contact with water, it creates such a low coefficient of friction that clot and exudate adherence to the catheter wall is discouraged. This ultra-smooth coating diminishes adherence to tissue and thus prevents the tissue erosion/tracking and tearing of delicate capillaries on tube movement. The reduced resistance on the inner surface of the catheter promotes continuous fluid drainage and reduces the need for continual milking.

Special mediastinal catheters with large internal area and special design optimize the flow rate of the drain and minimize pressure on the heart, coronary arteries and grafts. This allows increased volume without increasing posterior-anterior displacement as required with increased French size when using round tubes.

  • Innovative & medically safe thanks to ClotStop® coating
  • Safe and effective drainage reducing the risk of clot adherence
  • Enhanced patient comfort thanks to the optimised silicone material and coating
  • Time-saving for healthcare professionals by reducing the need for milking and stripping

Thoracic round silicone drains

The ClotStop® coated round drains provide many advantages for a variety of applications. Their beveled tips ensure easy insertion and prevent tissue invagination. The round silicone drains are available with scale and in two designs: straight & right angle. Sizes range from 8 Fr to 36 Fr.

Mediastinal drains

Special mediastinal catheters with large internal area and special design optimize the flow rate of the drain and minimize pressure on the heart, coronary arteries and grafts. The innovative Axiom® Atraum® Catheters coated with ClotSop® help to minimize the risk of formed clots adhering to the walls of the catheter and thus prevents occlusion of the catheter.

Customer Reviews

Catheters coated with ClotStop® are superior in the prevention of catheter occlusion in comparison to PVC drains."

Dr. Thomas Martens, Deputy head of clinic, Cardiac Surgery at the UZ Gent, Netherlands

"Overall, I would use the Catheters coated with ClotStop® on a routine basis and would recommend it to my colleagues. I also believe that the somewhat higher price is worth it, if it can prevent just one tamponade."
